Experience

For over 10 years, I have had an intense passion for dance and the dance industry. I began taking ballet classes at Shirley Schram Ballet School when I was only 5 years old. I was forced to step away from dance after just a year of classes, but when I came back - I came back with a passion. I began taking classes at Steppin' Up Dance Company in Sarnia; beginning with "jazzy hip-hop" in 2007. I progressed to taking jazz and lyrical classes the following year, and added ballet and tap to my repertoire, along with competitive dance in 2009.

I began teaching dance at Steppin' Up after completing the studio owners program in 2010. Through my studio owner, I also had the ability to be featured as a professional dancer in the production Guys and Dolls at the Imperial Theatre in 2013. I've had the immense pleasure of teaching beautiful dancers ranging in ages 3 to 14. As a former dance educator, I find pride in knowing that I was a positive and inspirational influence on many young dancers, and I'm anxious to continue doing what I love.

Dance Attack

Dance Attack Conventions has been one of the best experiences of my life. I've had the ability to voluntarily work for Kent McCord, owner of Dance Attack Conventions, for the past 3 years. I attend local conventions in Ontario such as London, Markham, Chatham, Hamilton, Owen Sound, and Toronto to help with the setting up and taking down of Dance Attack equipment. Assisting with the registration and payment of dancers attending the workshops is another one of my many responsibilities. As a Dance Attack faculty member, I've had the tremendous ability to work with internationally known dancers and choreographers. Some of whom have been Jennie Pappas, Amy Adams, Emily Einsmann, Cyrus, Cora Kozaris, and Lauren Froderman.

Currently, I am a Lambton College Student in Sarnia, ON. Enrolling in the Sports and Recreation Management program has enabled me to expand my knowledge in the sports industry, specifically through business. Classes including Sport Marketing and Computer Applications in Business continues to educate me in the workings of a business industry. Along with this, a Health Concepts course has allowed me to pursue a business related advanced diploma while maintaining an involvement in kinesiology that I can factor into my dance career. Through this program, I have also secured a volunteer internship with the Sarnia Sting (a junior ice hockey team) which has given me the ability to aquire a number of skills surrounding the process of event management and planning, along with game day promotions and marketing tactic abilities. With a semester average of 81.5%, my grades accurately reflect my knowledge gained throughout my time in the Sports and Recreation Management program, thus far.
